About Project
The repaired pipeline is a 24’’ diameter pipe line conveying gas from Warri to Oben-Ajaokuta. The leak point was located at Ekperi Community. The damaged section of the first point was cut out and a spool of 72.5m was welded, X-ray, wrapped, concrete doped and tied-in to the existing line. The 24” CWC Gas Pipeline at Ekperi Community repair maintenance was carried out around KP127+900, and total of 6 CWC pipes sectional replacement was carried out at 36meters to and from leak spot

NGC monitoring team should be highly commended for their time, effort and sacrifices to monitor all the stages of the job irrespective of weather conditions and made meaningful contributions at each stage. NGC team also must be emulated for their friendly disposition all through the period. Client should properly flush line as many times as possible before engaging contractor for repairs to avoid incidences and emergencies. Client should ensure that the right drawings for a facility is available to the contractor before moving to site in other not to temper with other ground facilities. There should be provision for timber mat for personnel’s and equipments to gain access to site in the event of high or low tide.
Our Approach And Solution
The project was executed in the sequence as stated bel
- Mobilization of personnel and equipments from our base office at Enerhen Road and Chevron Clinic Road to Ekperi~Auchi, Edo State (site)
- Site Preparation for equipment off loading at possible closest point to site of operation
- Access road preparation for transportation of materials and equipments from point of off load to site of operations
- Slinging of Belt on Pipes, Floaters, Welding Machines, etc, and onward carriage by Excavators to leaking spot
- Slinging and Pipes Positioning, ridge and stage preparation 7meters from leaking spot for welding operations
- Re-diversion of River Orle tributary 45mters away from excavation termination point
- Pump dry of the Intended work area for easy movement of materials closest to leak spot

- Formation of Ridge for welding and stage for welding machines and Work basins
- Welding of two (2) spools of 3pipes at (KP127)
- X-ray of all welded joints, wrapping and concrete doping
- Excavation of pipeline 10pipes upstream from replacement area and 10pipes downstream from tie-in point
- Cold cutting of the pipe from 3pipes from the Leaking spot and 3pipes after the leak spot (towards the River Orle tributary)
- Mud Plugging and Pigging of Exiting line and tie-in of spool to exiting line
- Lowering and Backfilling of newly installed pipe spool section
- Demobilization of Equipments and personnel.
