About Project
The 24” ELPs Phase1 Gas Pipeline at Batan Community repair maintenance was carried out around KP39 (River crossing), two points were lifted up simultaneously and sectional replacement was carried out at point one (blast spot). Within point one blast spot Elbow, 130m upstream another blast spot was discovered during mapping. During excavation 70m upstream another blast was discovered from the first elbow of the second River crossing. At point two (KP11~Inikorowa community), saddle installation was carried out on the exposed pipeline section and backfilled.
Customer's Wishes
NGC monitoring team should be highly commended for their time, effort and sacrifices to monitor all the stages of the job irrespective of weather conditions. NGC team also must be emulated for their friendly disposition all through the period. Client should properly flush line as many times as possible before engaging contractor for repairs to avoid incidences and emergencies. Client should ensure that the right drawings for a facility is available to the contractor before moving to site in other not to temper with other ground facilities. There should be provision for timber mat for personnel’s and equipments to gain access to site in the event of high or low tide.
Our Approach And Solution
The repaired pipeline is a 24’’ diameter pipe line conveying gas from Escravos -Warri. The leak point was located at Batan Community. The damaged section of the first point was cut out and a spool of 337.5m was welded, wrapped, concrete doped and tied-in to the existing line.
The second spot at KP11 were the pipeline was exposed, saddles were installed and backfilled to bury the pipeline completely.
